Films on The Narth: Belle showing on Friday 28 November

Films BelleFilms on The Narth’s next presentation is Belle, based on the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the mixed race illegitimate daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral who was raised by aristocrats in 18th Century England.  The film shows events that shaped the developing anti-slavery movement at the time, providing a fascinating insight into the period, as well as an engrossing, romantic story.  Gugu Mbatha-Raw gives a wonderful, touching performance in the title role, supported by a great cast, including Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson, Penelope Wilton and Matthew Goode.
