The Narth WI: Latest News

WI-logoAt the January WI meeting, President Ruth Potter welcomed members and visitors to the first meeting of the Centenary year.  The Christmas wreath workshop was well attended and those who took part were pleased with their efforts thanks to the guidance of Cathy Russell.  The Christmas lunch at The Speech House was a great success and enjoyed by all.

The guest speaker was Dr Ann Benson a landscape historian who gave a talk on the history of Troy House near Mitchell Troy. Continue reading

A Community Plan for The Narth: A First Look at the Results

Following our consultation launch event in September, everyone in our area (The Narth, Pen y Fan and Maryland) had an opportunity to complete a questionnaire, either online or on paper, on the issues that had been raised. The initial results from the questionnaires have been passed to us by Adventa, the independent facilitators of the project. The final document is now being prepared.

The response was good: 93 adults completed the main questionnaire, which is around  31% of the adult population of 297 (based on the 2011 government census). This is a good response rate, comparable with other villages undertaking community led plans. Continue reading

The Narth Choir Christmas Concert in Penallt 18 December

NarthChoir2014ChristmasConcert2014Expect lots of gifts at this year’s Narth Choir Christmas concert entitled the Gift of Christmas. It will be held in the Pelham Hall, Penallt near Monmouth at 7.30pm on Thursday 18th December. One of the Gifts will be a donation to Médecins Sans Frontières, this year’s charity, to help with their pioneering fight against Ebola in Africa. With your help it will be a large gift.
The concert will have the usual dynamic mix of beautiful choral music, popular songs and, doubtless, a few surprises. The concert is, as always, free to get in but you may find it a bit tricky to get out without considering a donation to Médecins Sans Frontières. Continue reading
