On the usual Village Fete weekend, at the end of August, residents are invited to exhibit their own scarecrows with the theme Heroes and Villains. There will be a trail map produced for people to follow – if you want to add your scarecrow to the map please let the Anna Brown know by Monday 9th August. That’s email@example.com or WhatsApp 07963 954330.
Get creative – there will be voting for the favourites!
Our annual fete and dog show is happening on Sunday 28th August this year and we shall have a white elephant stall, so we are on the scrounge for any decent quality things we can sell – clothes, jewellery, household items, ornaments, books, stationery – anything you don’t want and someone else might (with a few exceptions mentioned below).
We also want items for the raffle and tombola/bottle stalls – it’s all in a good cause! Continue reading →
Bring your dog along on the day and give him/her a chance to show off! The Show will take place at the start of the Village Fete on Bank Holiday Monday, with registrations opening at 12 noon (£1 per dog per class) and the first event starts at 12.30pm. Refreshments will be available in the Glade (including a licensed bar and barbeque) and the facilities in the Hall will be open.
Donations – raffle prizes, books, kids clothing, scarves, bags, jewellery, DVDs and bottles of anything – can be taken to the hall (any time it is open) or contact Jane (860422) to arrange delivery. The Hall will be open specifically for collections on Saturday 22nd and Saturday 29th August from 11am to 12 noon. Goods can also be received by stall-holders direct on the day before noon.
This year’s fete will take place as usual on August Bank Holiday Monday, and we’re holding a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in the Hall with activities and events in The Glade. Wear an appropriate hat to join in the fun, and if you’re feeling creative, or just have some good home grown vegetables, enter the Competitions.
We are encouraging residents of the village to display white rabbits, or rabbit ears, in hedges or gardens, and to put up bunting and colours to build a great atmosphere for Fete Day.
The evening before the fete there will be Songs of Praise in the The Glade at 6 pm with refreshments beforehand in the hall from 5 pm.
