The Narth and District Gardening Club is a friendly and enthusiastic club that meets throughout the year, in the autumn, winter and spring for indoor meetings with speakers in the Narth Village Hall. The meetings, held on the last Tuesday of the month, provide an excellent opportunity to socialise with fellow gardeners over refreshments and listen to talks covering a wide range of garden topics. We have an Annual General Meeting with a social event including dinner in January. Throughout the summer we have outings including short afternoon or evening visits to local gardens and usually once a year a coach outing further afield. Over the last few years we have also held a successful plant sale and coffee morning in May, a wonderful opportunity to purchase common and unusual garden plants at low prices. Continue reading
The 24th September meeting of the garden club will be open to all with no entry charge.
Come along to the Village Hall at 19.15 for coffee, tea and socialising.
This will be followed at 20.00 by a entertaining talk by the ever popular Alun and Jill Whitehead entitled “An autumnal romp – A seasonal look at gardens and Art.” New members are always welcome.”

The next meeting of the Garden club is on Tuesday 27th November at 2.30pm in the village hall with doors opening at 1.45
The talk will be Mistletoe: Fact, Myth and Legend with Michael Jones
This will be followed by festive refreshments of mulled wine, cakes as well as tea and coffee.
The Narth Garden Club meeting on Tuesday 30th October features a talk on How clever is the honey bee by Allan Wells.
This is in the Village Hall at 8 pm – doors open at 7.30.
Everyone welcome – £4 entry for non-members.

The next meeting of The Narth Garden Club includes a talk by Elsa Wood and Jon Dunkelman An Introduction to Grassland Fungi and to Species found Locally.
Last year Elsa and Jon’s book Grassland Fungi: A Field Guide was published. Elsa is a professional ecologist and also the county flower recorder. Jon lives on The Narth and is a fungi enthusiast and member of Monmouthshire Meadows Group.

The Narth and District Gardening Club are organising a Coach Outing to the Bishop’s Palace, Wells, Somerset on Saturday 9th June 2018, and non-members are welcome to join them.
The next garden club meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th November at the earlier time of 2pm in the village hall when the Monmouth Based Charity of ‘ Bees for Development’ will be giving a presentation of their work overseas.
This will be followed by refreshments
GRAND PLANT SALE AND COFFEE MORNING at the village hall on Saturday 27th May, 10am – 12noon. Now is the time to get you garden ready for the summer months.
The next Gardening Club meeting is Tuesday 30th May at 7.30 for 8pm in the village Hall when they have Alun and Jill Whitehead returning to give a presentation on ‘A Clutch of Charity Gardens’. This husband and wife team have been to our club before and are very popular speakers and we look forward to welcoming them again.
The Narth Gardening Club next meeting will be Tuesday 25th April in the Village Hall at 7.30 for 8pm.
The speaker will be Justine Scoulter talking of her experiences on starting up a flower farm in Llanishen.
