Wednesday Afternoon Concert

Appalachian MusicPOSTPONED: This will not be on Wednesday 19th February as originally planned, due to issues with the floods.  A new date will be announced in due course.

The Wednesday Afternoon Social Club are hosting a group of visiting Minstrels who will play traditional Welsh tunes and give a demonstration of Appalachian folk dancing, which is a cross between Irish/English and Clog dancing developed in the mountains of North America.  It’s amazing and very entertaining!

It is open to everyone (as is the Club) and will cost £3 to include refreshments.  Could people please let Linda Snowden know if they are coming – phone 01600 869128 or email (Note the underscore between Linda and Snowden).

Children are welcome – it’s half term week!

The Narth Social Club

FriendsThe weekly social club started by Age Cymru Gwent has become independent and will be known as The Narth Social Club, thanks to Linda Snowden and Alison Pugh-Jones who have volunteered to run the group now that Age Cymru’s funding has come to an end.  The friendly group now has no particular membership restrictions but welcomes everyone to join them for activities and chat on Wednesday afternoons at the Village Hall.

The group is on a break over Christmas but will start up again on Wednesday 8th January.  If you want to find out whether it is for you, join them between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.  There is a weekly fee of £3 when you attend (which includes refreshments), but there’s no obligation to sign up for any length of time.

On Wednesday 15th January a representative from the local police will be giving a talk on scams, how to spot them and how to avoid them.

Find out more by going along, or contact Linda on 01600 869128 or Alison on 01600 860983.
